I officially became a runner in September 2007, when I ran for the first time in my life…for 2 minutes. I used a really great 10-week training program to build up to 30 minutes, then I challenged myself to literally “go the distance” by participating in 4 races in the Spring of 2008: a 5k, 10k, 10-miler and a half-marathon! I ran another 5k that summer, then sort of fell out of running for a while, but I’m back baby!
After a string of races in Spring of 2009, I came to realize that I do love running, but not long distances. So from now on, I’m sticking to shorter distance races like 5k, 5-mile, 10k, etc. As far as 10-milers and half-marathons go, its been real
This decision was made based on the stress I was putting on my body. I know if I trained better I could keep it up, but I don’t want to risk injury or put my body through it anymore.
That being said, I’m living proof that if you want to do something and you start from the bottom and work your way up, you will achieve great results. I never thought I’d be a runner or that I would love to run, but that is exactly what has happened. I’m hoping this page will motivate me to keep running when the race season is over and to register for more races too!

Love your new running page!!!!! very inspiring
Fab Blog I have recently started blogging my training for my first half marathon. Like your self I love 5K and 10K so will have to see what I think of the half!!
rachelontherun – I think every runner should try a half-marathon at least once if they have the aspiration. I am really proud of my accomplishment but its not something I would want to do every year because it does take its toll on my body. Good luck!
