Out with the old tofu
Last night, I knew I would be making tofu for dinner but I was getting kind of tired of my usual baked tofu concoction (with chili powder, garlic powder and sesame seeds).
I bought this bottle at Whole Foods in anticipation of stir frying madness!
But the skillet I wanted to use wasn’t clean and I was too lazy to wash it, so I went back to my baked tofu, still using the sauce.
I put the tofu in a plastic bag with 2 tbsp of sauce.
Shake and bake!
It was a different taste, more sweet than hot, but still good and a nice change.
I had half the recipe along with a sweet potato with some Smart Balance Light and cinnamon.
I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a sweet potato. So sad. Glad I know now!
If you eat tofu, what is your favorite way to make it?
I have stir fried, George Foreman’d and baked and I think baked is my favorite method but it took a lot of practice. Perhaps the others need more too.

We love tofu all ways. Scrambled and stir fried are what we do most. The trick to great tofu is pressing it well before you use it.
We like to freeze our tofu, thaw it then press it before marinading as well. It’s an excellent trick that really helps it absorb the flavors and changes to texture of the tofu slightly.
Stir fried w/ homemade ginger soy sauce. (ginger, Soy, Sugar, that’s it!) I like to stir fry pea pods, brussel sprouts, carrots, and tofu. Sometimes add some fried noodles. It’s great!

I love oru shake and bake tofu! I have these sesame spices I acutally found at TJ max and it is So good on tofu, then roasted 🙂
I almost always add crumbled or cubed tofu to soups. I pretend it’s pasta which I’m trying to cut back on. I also love baking it by first ‘breading’ it with wheat germ and adding whatever herbs/spices strike my fancy for that meal. It’s healthy AND tasty!
I have never tried tofu before, but that looks pretty good, and interesting!
I like baking it or pan frying it. It has to be squeezed of the excess of water. Then it has the texture that I like the most.
I’m a baked tofu girl. I like to pan sear the tofu with dark sesame oil, soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce. I let it marinate for about 30 minutes prior to cooking. It’s super duper yummie!
Nice use of Tofu & Thai Kitchen Sweet Red Chili Sauce. This sauce is great on a variety of veggie dishes and chips and egg rolls too! Can I send you some recipes from Thai Kitchen to try?
