Times off

It’s 6:24 p.m. and I am ready for bed! I don’t know what has happened to my internal clock but the time is all off! Actually, I think it comes from having late lunches the past two days and now that it gets dark here before 6:00 that makes things confusing. Hopefully I’ll get used to it soon enough 🙂

Before we went to the movie, I stashed these in my purse, one for me and one for my friend — I ate the chocolate chip one 😉 The movie was almost 3 hours long, so this was a good idea, even though it meant having two snacks before lunch.

After the movie, which was fantastic by the way, we had lunch at McAlister’s Deli, which is within walking distance of the theatre, which is half of its appeal! I got the tuna salad “salad” with no dressing and I picked off the croutons and didn’t eat any of the crackers that came with it.

I also had a cup of their Chicken Tortilla soup, which is one of the best out there! It’s cheesy and spicy but not too high in calories or fat! I didn’t eat any of the chips you see in the background 😉

After lunch, we went to Target for a little bit to check out the sales and pick up some items for a friend we are going to visit tomorrow. When I got home, I felt a little hungry (the late lunch threw me off) and was craving something sweet, so I (somewhat hesitantly) decided to finish off the pumpkin dip, since there wasn’t that much left anyway.

I just had some tea and took the dog for a 20-minute walk (the only real exercise I’ve had today, waaah)…think I’ll wait until 7 to decide what I’m having for dinner, most likely leftovers 😉

Hope those of you who had to work today didn’t have to work too hard and those of you who went shopping didn’t break the bank, haha. I am hoping to catch up on everyone else’s blogs tonight and tomorrow, I have over 200 sitting in my Google Reader now, yikes!

Totally (hungry) Tuesday

Sorry to share so much, but I can totally tell it’s “that time of the month” coming up if you know what I mean. How do I know? I am freakin’ hungry! All the time!

This morning, the dog woke me up early but we went outside and then came back in and laid on the couch for almost another hour. It was nice, she kept me warm too, haha.

Breakfast was a nice bowl of leftover steel cut oats, rehydrated with 1/4 cup soymilk and 1/4 cup pumpkin, plus 1 tsp sugar free syrup, 1 tbsp peanut butter, and some walnuts. I am proud to report, I cooked up the last of my steel cut oats (one serving left!) and now I can buy some old fashioned again, hooray! I also drank my 1 cup of coffee at home today (with 1 pkt Equal and 1/8 cup soymilk).

Mid-morning, I had a big green apple and a cheese stick…

Less than an hour later, I was still hungry! So I broke into my peanut butter Z bar since I was planning on going to the gym soon.


For my workout, I chose the elliptical trainer today. After my oatmeal breakfast and two morning snacks, I was ready for a good sweaty cardio workout! Stats…

Munchie Monday

Yesterday, I had a lot of hunger grumbles, so I felt kind of like I was munching on stuff all day. But I didn’t go overboard, so it was still a successful day!

Mid-morning, I had some mixed nuts as a snack. I finally replenished my stash, this is my favorite mixture!

Then I hit the treadmill for a walk/run workout. Basically, I started out walking for 5 minutes, increasing my speed every 30 seconds until I reached 4.0; then I jogged starting at 4.5 and increased my speed every 30 seconds until I reached 6.0, then I ran at that speed until I had been running for 10 minutes. I repeated the same cycle and then walked the last 5 minutes gradually decreasing my speed to cool down.

I don’t know what happened to my lunch picture, but I had a roast beef, lettuce, and Smart Balance mayo wrap, some celery with Cranberry Fig Hummus (another Sam’s purchase, so good, more info to come), and a tangerine. If I find the pic I will update this later!

A couple hours later, I was hungry again and I dug into my afternoon snack, which was the…best…snack…in recent history!

I purchased some Kroger Lite yogurt (this one is French Apple Pie) which is made with artificial sweetener so it has a lower calorie count and sugar grams than other brands. It also contains 30% daily calcium, 15% Vitamin D, and 7 grams of protein!

Anyway, back to the snack…I topped it with some Kashi Go Lean cereal for some crunch. It was so good!

The best thing about this snack, other than the taste? It was only 150 calories!

But before I left work, I also had a cup of fat free cocoa to hold my stomach over…


Then I went back to the gym and did 5 minutes warm-up on the stationary bike and about 20 minutes of upper body weight lifting (chest, shoulders, back, biceps, triceps). It was great!

On the ride home, I was “starving”, so I ate my safety bar from my purse:


Now that I have had these all again, I really think the chocolate brownie is my favorite flavor. I don’t remember it being that one before, but I guess tastes change, huh?

Dinner was steak, prepared by my husband, which looks huge but it was really thin, plus I cut off a lot of the right side which contained some visible fat. I also had some green beans and 1/2 a sweet potato with 1 tsp Smart Balance light and cinnamon sprinkled on top.


For dessert, I had 1/2 cup of prepared sugar free, fat free vanilla pudding with 2 tbsp fat free Reddi-Whip (65 calories). I forgot to take a picture of it though! 😦

My friend Renee brought over these amazing looking (and smelling) brownies for the Cleveland game last night (get it Browns, Brownies? haha) and even though I wanted one really bad, I just stuck to eating a crumb from the half empty container 🙂

After taking the dog out again, I came back in for some decaf mint green tea, the perfect nighttime relaxer / stomach settler…

I don’t hate Monday…

…this week! haha.

Today has not been bad, I haven’t been as tired as I usually am and I’ve eaten really well today. I’m also hoping to go to the gym after work here soon. The weather is cold, but sunny. The rest of the week ain’t lookin’ too good though 😦

Ah well, here’s to food! 🙂

This morning, I started things off with some steel cut oats (made with water in the crockpot overnight!) topped with a medium banana sliced and a tbsp of peanut butter. That’s my multivitamin to the left side 😉 I made a big batch of oatmeal to last me a few days this week!


I was very interested to learn, thanks to Kath and Jenna, that steel cut oats and regular (old fashioned) oats are pretty much the same, nutritionally. I was under the assumption that steel cut were better, so I bought them a long time ago (and have yet to use them all up) but now that I know the deal, I can go back to eating my regular oats in peace 🙂 That is, after I finish up these steel cut bad boys!

When I got to work, I had my usual…2 cups of coffee with Equal and 1% milk (1/4 cup in total today)…

And now for the big REVEAL! I finally found something I have wanted for a while. I only got one, thinking if it was good, I would go back to this EXACT spot and grab a few more before they were gone. Drumroll please…

Here it is…my very own….SPOOKY S’MORES Z-BAR!

I found it at a different Kroger than I usually shop at, I wasn’t even looking for it as I had given up on finding it weeks ago. I got so excited in the grocery store, I took a pic right then and there, I didn’t care how crazy I looked!

I ate it today for my mid-morning snack. It did not disappoint. I am in love

After being in Spooky S’mores Z-bar bliss for a couple hours, I met a friend at McDonald’s for lunch. I ordered the Bacon Ranch salad with grilled chicken and only used about half the packet of dressing. I love McDonald’s salads because they contain a lot of protein and fill me up really well (mucho satisfaction). The only downside is the sodium, so it’s important not to eat this every day.

Late night

Those who know me well, know that I am usually in bed early and also early to rise. I don’t know when it changed but somewhere in the mid-20’s, I became a morning person! I also think it’s because I’m tired from exercising and like to go to bed before I need to eat again 😉

Last night, or should I say this morning, we did not get home until almost 2 a.m.! So needless to say, I was starving by the time we got home and had to eat another snack. So you are getting the rundown in reverse order:

Late night snack – mini-bagel with cinnamon raisin PB:

Earlier in the evening snack – Honey graham Z bar (very good, btw!)
Dinner – Subway sandwich: Turkey on wheat with no cheese, tons of veggies, mustard and apples (don’t know why apple picture came out so small!)

Snack before we left home: I was feeling hungry and wanted to have a nutritious snack since I didn’t know what all I would be eating the rest of the night, so I made some Instant Breakfast (no sugar added) with skim milk:
